IPL 2023 Mid-Season Review IPL 2023 has reached the halfway mark, where exactly 35 of the 70 league matches have been played, with each team playing exactly seven matches each. In this article, I am going to review the performance, future team combinations, and chances to reach the playoffs of three teams, namely the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals.    If you have noticed, I have selected the top team, the bottom team, and a middle team according to the mid-season points table. I will be reviewing other teams in a separate blog post soon.   I am going to start off with my favourite team and current table-toppers, the Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings Many c ricket followers were surprised to see the performances of the Chennai Super Kings so far in this IPL. However, I wasn't surprised at all to see this performance.    If you don't bel...

SRH vs DC (Match 34) Fantasy Tip

Image
SRH vs DC (Match 34) Fantasy Tips Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals have been languishing at the bottom of the points table and are locking horns in an evening game at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad    Both the teams look incredibly strong on paper, however, haven't been able to translate the potential into wins. Delhi has only one win from their six games while Hyderabad has two wins from their six games. Delhi Capitals after losing the first five games crawled their way to win their sixth game against Kolkata Knight Riders in a chase of 128. Nevertheless, a win after five losses will keep their head high in this fixture While Sunrisers Hyderabad is coming into this game after two successive losses against IPL behemoth Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.   In this context, this fixture is going to be a battle to avoid languishing at the bottom at the halfwa...

LSG vs GT (Match 30) Fantasy Tips

Image
LSG vs GT (Match 30) Fantasy Tips Both the Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans are facing off in an afternoon game at Lucknow after incidentally playing their previous game with the Rajasthan Royals.   The defending champions are currently in fourth place in the points table after winning three games from the five games they have played, The Titans could have easily been five out of five had they not seen the two heists from Rinku Singh and Shimron Hetmyer while they were defending on their home ground.   Lucknow comes into this fixture against the backdrop of pulling a heist against the same Royals, where Lucknow defended a mediocre 154 at Jaipur. Must Haves in Your Fantasy Teams Hardik Pandya Hardik has started to bowl again; he did a commendable job in the last game against the Royals, where he was literally unplayable in his first two overs. Hardik has yet to live up to his reputatio...

#ThrowbackThursday - 5 Mad dashes

Image
In this edition, let's look at list of most scored by a team in the last 5 overs of an IPL innings 5. RCB vs MI, Wankhede 2015 - 88 runs                   There was a period of time when RCB meant 3 names trying to win the game all by themselves. Gayle, AB, Kohli. The embodiment of that is this scorecard. Only 3 batters batted. Scored 235 batting first. Including the then highest partnership in all T20s.. Won the game. Easy peasy. But the details are what makes it even more incredible. RCB were 88/1 at the end of 10 overs on a batting paradise at the Wankhede stadium. Even though AB had started brightly, Kohli was batting on 30 off 23 balls. Then the magic happened. As we have seen numerous times since, two of the preeminent batters of their generation created a sense of awe, matching each other shot for shot and taking 59 runs of the next 5 overs. If that was crazy, they went a few steps further and scored 88 runs of ...

Gujarat Titans Predicted Playing 11

Image
GT Predicted Playing 11 Defending champions Gujarat Titans start their IPL 2023 campaign against Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad on March 31, 2023.   Not many predicted that Hardik Pandya would lead the Gujarat Titans to their maiden title in their first attempt last year. Even their auction performance looked very ordinary for all the cricket pundits and fans across the world. As they say, a team is made of a collection of parts, and they become a formidable team when the sum of those parts plays together. The Gujarat Titans did the same last year; they had everyone in the team perform throughout the tournament, starting with Gill, Saha on the powerplays, Hardik in the middle overs, Tewatia and Miller as finishers, and Shami and Rashid controlling the opposition and picking wickets. This year, they decided to let go of Lockie Ferguson, who holds 10 crores of their purse value, and let go of Gurbaz to KKR. ...

Sunrisers Hyderabad Predicted Playing 11

Image
SRH Predicted Playing 11 Sun Risers Hyderabad, also known as SRH, is a franchise cricket team that represents the city of Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team was founded in 2014 and has been a consistent performer in the tournament. For more than half the decade, SRH was synonymous with David Warner and Rashid Khan. However, last year, before the mega auction, SRH let go of David Warner and Rashid Khan and decided to go with NZ skipper Kane Williamson. As Williamson had a mediocre season with the bat last year and his price tag was 14C, SRH decided to revamp the team structure again and went on to the auctions with 42C. Now, after picking decent players in the auction with new strategies, they have decided to go with Aiden Markram as the skipper for IPL 2023, who led and won the inaugural SA T20 league for their sister franchise, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. #ThrowbackThursday - 10 most expensive spells in the IPL

Image
In our first article of this throwback series, we'll look at 10 bowlers who went the distance in an IPL match 10 . Marco Jansen vs GT, Wankhede 2022, 4-0-63-0                 On an unforgiving pitch at the batting friendly Wankhede, SRH scored 195 runs batting first.  By the 20th over of the GT innings, Umran Malik had bowled what was arguably the greatest bowling spell in IPL history to single handedly bring SRH back into the contest, picking each of the 5 wickets to have fallen. Kane Williamson had bowled out Umran, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Natarajan leaving previous match's POTM Marco Jansen to bowl the last over. At the crease were Tewatia and Rashid Khan needing 22 of the last 6 balls, with GT seemingly pulling off heists almost every other match in the tournament. Jansen, though already expensive having leaked 38 runs in his first 3 overs, wouldn't have anticipated the carnage that awaited him. Tewatia hit the 1st ball fo...
